Trudi D Finniss



Trudi D Finniss is an Illustrator / Surface Designer, living in Cape Town, South Africa. She lives with her husband, two children and very senior cat who loves to chase the sunshine and snooze all day.
Her love for art and design started in high school when she took Textile Design as an after school subject in a beautiful and spacious old building. Her teacher from that time had a lot of faith in her creative abilities and planted a seed that’s been growing ever since. After school Trudi studied Graphic Design and then went on to work in the Textile and Fashion Industry for many years. She decided to move into illustration after having her daughter. She felt a strong need to spend more time working traditionally with paint and brush and has never looked back.
Trudi loves to start her day with an early walk through the park. She feels incredibly fortunate to live in such a beautiful leafy suburb of Cape Town and loves to start her morning having a cup of coffee while looking out of the window. She spends her mornings in her little studio, either doing research or sketching and painting with music playing in the background and some essential oils burning. She likes to draw inspiration from nature, organic forms, textures, different time periods and also people and things that are unique and unusual.
